Raumaster Paper and ABB sign Memorandum of Understanding to enhance US operations

Raumaster Paper and ABB have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with the goal of providing customers with integrated winder solutions in the United States, ensuring extended life cycles and enhanced operations for new and existing customers across the country. Raumaster Paper’s state-of-the art winder solutions combined with ABB’s and expertise in automation, system drives, and digitalization enable a unified approach to the customer base, allowing the companies to promote each other’s strengths while having a mutual understanding of the scope delivery limits.

— Raumaster Paper Winders represents some of the top technology in high-capacity production winders, and through local agreements they can provide excellent local support bar none in North America for the customer, says Tero Huhtanen, Business Manager at ABB.

— With our globally proven drive control solutions for winders, we’re providing mills with a smarter, more connected approach to finishing operations. Partnering with Raumaster Paper allows us to offer a seamless package that combines best-in-class automation with trusted mechanical expertise, ensuring mills can modernize efficiently and cost-effectively, comments Shankar Singh, Global Product Line Manager at ABB.

For the US customer, the benefits of the undertaking include long-term local support by both companies, with firmly established scope dividing lines between the parties. The companies share a commitment to both innovative technologies and sustainability, helping the customer find practical, cost-effective and targeted solutions for their needs. With many customers now looking to harmonize their existing machinery, the MoU agreement also allows for a collaborative approach to modernization work. A joint approach to the market presents further potential for multi-year frame agreements with paper customers in North America for both companies.

—We are excited to work with ABB in oncoming projects across the United States and to combine our decades of experience in winder design with ABB’s expertise in advanced automation technologies. Our goal is to always be the best possible partner for our clients, and this collaboration enables us to enhance and develop our operations across the United States, says Pekka Leino, Managing Director at Raumaster Paper.
