Over the Years: Raumaster’s head office at Nortamonkatu 34 was taken into use in summer 2005

Raumaster’s head office at Nortamonkatu 34 in Rauma was completed and taken into use in July 2005. The building has now supported operations for over 20 years. The company had already been operating at the same location since October 1987, when it moved into premises at Nortamonkatu 32, previously used as a grocery store.

The construction of a new office building became necessary as the number of employees had grown to over 130 by 2003, and the facilities at Nortamonkatu 32 had become too small. In June of that year, the company’s Board of Directors concluded that the best solution would be to construct an entirely new office building next to the existing one and connect the two properties with a link bridge.

The project was carried out in cooperation with the City of Rauma, which joined the newly established real estate company. Raumaster held a 49% share and the City 51%. The City also guaranteed the required loan of EUR 2.5 million, while Raumaster paid rent covering the operating costs of the new building as well as loan servicing expenses. The agreement included a clause under which Raumaster would acquire the City’s shares in the real estate company within ten years.

Kiinteistöosakeyhtiö Rauman Rantakatu initiated the construction of the new 1,900-square-metre office building in September 2004. The cornerstone was laid on 28 October 2004. Construction progressed rapidly, with the building completed in June 2005, and Raumaster took the premises into use at the beginning of July.

In recent years, the facilities have been systematically modernised. In 2025, renovations included the upstairs break area and ground-floor facilities at Nortamonkatu 34, as well as the design department at Nortamonkatu 32. The next phase will focus on the upstairs office spaces at Nortamonkatu 34.
