Pasi Ala-Mutka, who works at Raumaster as a site supervisor for installations and commissioning, spends most of his year on project sites around the world. While experience and hands-on expertise are essential in the work itself, strong support networks also play a key role in successful delivery.

We had the honor of welcoming Canada’s Ambassador Patrick Hébert to Raumaster Paper in Pori. During his visit, the Ambassador toured our production facilities. Hébert was particularly interested in our upcoming delivery to the Kruger paper mill in Quebec.

On Monday, June 15, 2026, cake and coffee were enjoyed at Raumaster’s Nortamonkatu office as the Wood Handling Division celebrated its 25th anniversary. The department officially began its operations a quarter of a century ago, on June 15, 2001.

Teppo Lehtonen works at Raumaster Paper Oy as Chief Engineer for winders. At the heart of his diverse role is the execution of design work, which requires both a strong understanding of machinery and great collaboration and organisational skills.

Antti Kurki, who works as a Project Engineer at Raumaster, received a distinguished honour, when he was awarded the Pohjantähti badge at the Rauma Scouts’ Independence Day gala. The respected honorary badge is granted in recognition of promoting cooperation and living in accordance with the values of the scouting movement.

In April 2026, a new laser cutter was commissioned at Raumaster’s Sampaanala workshop, replacing the plasma cutter previously in use. Fiber laser brings improved cutting accuracy and higher cost efficiency.

The Göteborg Energi power plant project has been selected as one of the three safest working environments in Sweden.

More than 20 years of experience, broad technical expertise and close cooperation across the organisation ensure that Samu Palomäki and the Engineering Department perform well every day. Engineering expertise brings theory and practice together as a central part of projects.

Raumaster Oy was founded on April 29, 1984, in Rauma. Over the past four decades, the five-man engineering office has grown into a market leader employing over 400 people, supplying material handling systems for all industries worldwide.

Raumaster’s agents gathered in Rauma in mid-April. They serve as Raumaster’s local points of contact for the customers, assisting both in sales and throughout the lifecycle of projects. Over the two days, various events were organised, including presentations on projects, product development, and market situations.

A winder that had been in operation for only two years was repurchased by Raumaster Paper after a Finnish board mill was closed in summer 2025. The winder was first transferred to Raumaster Paper’s assembly hall, where it is now being modified to suit the requirements of its future owner.

Raumaster conducted its employee survey in October 2025. With a response rate of 87%, the results provide a comprehensive view of everyday work at Raumaster. The PeoplePower® Index reached 77.9, achieving an AA+ (“Good+”) result. That qualifies Raumaster for recognition as one of Finland’s Most Inspiring Workplaces.

Raumaster Paper’s loading systems have transformed the handling of rolls, pulp bales, timber and sea containers – making operations safer, more efficient and significantly more environmentally responsible. Increasingly complex customer needs continue to drive new innovations.

While design work and drawings are today created mainly with 3D software and delivered electronically, in the 1990s engineering design was carried out with ink pens on drawing boards. Read more about how design work was done on drawing boards and how these tasks moved into the digital era.

Tarmo Lehtonen, who works as a Senior Automation Engineer at Raumaster, has performed thousands of gigs over a career spanning more than 50 years. This year, the versatile part‑time musician took part in recording a full‑length album – an undertaking Raumaster was proud to support.

Automation keeps paper reels moving without manual intervention. At Raumaster Paper, Chief Engineer Automation Jaakko Koskialho oversees complex systems that deliver long‑lasting, dependable and predictable performance.

Simo Karpeeki serves as Foreperson for Raumaster’s Automation Department. The purpose of automation is to enhance equipment assembly operations. Karpeeki explains their role by comparing it to the human body.

Raumaster Oy has been selected as a technology provider for Fortum’s modernisation project at the Zabrze combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Poland.

Raumaster Paper successfully delivered a comprehensive roll wrapping line, along with core handling and broke roll handling systems, for the new paper machine at Mondi Group’s Štětí mill in the Czech Republic.

A strategic partnership between Raumaster Paper and ABB was formalized though a Memorandum of Understanding in May.
